The Opportunity and the context

💼 Role Overview

The Youth Guarantee promises support to all young people aged 18-21 that they can access the support they need to prevent them from becoming economically inactive, before their careers have even begun.

We are looking for a ‘trailblazer’ in youth education and employment policy to lead the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Youth Guarantee and other exciting programmes.

You must be able to demonstrate enthusiasm and experience in supporting young people from diverse backgrounds, along with a strong understanding of employers’ needs in the region. Your programme management skills will complement your policy background.

🔧 What you’ll be doing:

• Driving the development and implementation of the Youth Guarantee Policy, focusing on NEET prevention, breaking down barriers to employment and identification and engagement.
• Collaborating with stakeholders and public sector partners to deliver the CPCA’s Youth Guarantee Trailblazer and other exciting programmes linked to Careers and work inspiration.

What we're looking for

👀 We’re looking for someone with:

• Extensive experience in developing, managing, and delivering corporate or strategic projects and programmes.
• Expertise in the skills and employment sector, with experience working directly with NEET young people and a strong understanding of education and employment policy.
• Extensive experience leading change projects, (essential) ideally within a Mayoral Combined Authority (desirable).
• Experience of budget management for complex programmes of work
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups at all levels.
• You will have knowledge of Local/Central Government and devolution deals.
• Specific experience within Central/Local Government/Combined Authorities would be advantageous.

In this role, you will need to regularly travel across the region of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough and work from our Huntingdon office when required, at least 1-2 days/week.
