An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Business & Skills Team at the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority.

Job Summary 
To support the Chief Officer on the development and function of the Combined Authority Business Board plus the coordination of the team around multiple strategy development activities and other key stakeholder engagements managed by the Business and Skills Directorate on behalf of the Business Board and Combined Authority. Working directly to support the Director for Business and Skills to deliver the appropriate organisational management to help facilitate the efficient, compliant functioning of the Business Board in its pursuit to deliver maximum economic benefit to the region. 

Key Responsibilities
Directorate Operations - Management of the workload across the Business & Skills Directorate, including the chairing of the monthly operational management meetings and allocating inward requests for action, services and projects for the Directorate.

  • Co-ordination with Business Energy Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and Community Local Government Unit (CLGU) on meetings, materials, data and other tasks 
  • Manage Annual Performance Review preparations for BEIS/CLGU meeting, then post meeting Action Plan to be agreed and to be tracked
  • Manage the Business Board Assurance Framework providing support to its on-going development and implementation
  • Co-ordination of Business Board Agenda, Minutes and Forward Plan, including meeting arrangements, papers and supporting materials
  • Co-ordination of briefing calls with Business Board Chair and supporting Directors and CA Officers to meet Board paper submission deadlines
  • Supporting the administration around the creation and engagement of Sector Growth Strategies, facilitating the completed ones to Business Board meetings also organising Business Board and stakeholders' inputs for Strategies which in delivery or yet to be delivered
  • Co-ordination Oxford & Cambridge Arc (CAMCOX) meetings, papers and stakeholder engagement plus the emerging strategy developments requiring coordination and input from the Business Board and CA Directors and officers

Qualifications and Knowledge

  • Experience in supporting and assisting internal and external Board members Directors and Officers
  • Proven track record in coordinating external partners and stakeholders to meet business and project development needs
  • Good strategic understanding and knowledge of strategy development 
  • Excellent relationship manager 
  • Excellent communication and networking skills with confidence in own ability 
  • Good presentation skills
  • Significant knowledge of strategy management including processes, procedures and tools
  • Expertise in effective reporting at a strategic level 
  • Good knowledge of government systems 
  • Degree level or equivalent standard of general education
