Apprenticeships are a brilliant route into an industry you care about

Apprenticeships

We work with local employers and education providers to promote the many benefits of hiring an apprentice and help to promote opportunities to young people across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Download our skills strategy to learn more about our work to increase opportunities and life chances.

Vision

Apprenticeships can upskill the workforce across our region, and across thousands of sectors: our vision is of integrated apprentices, funded and supported by the best training, working with employers to level up productivity in our region.

Mission

Our mission is to empower learners and employers to work together: to support you in your apprenticeship journeys and to provide funding, advice and help to upskill our workforce in priority sectors.

Objectives

  • To help training providers to supply the apprenticeship courses that matter most in our region
  • To support and empower learners and employers to access apprenticeships that are relevant to them and that will equip them for the future

Becoming an apprentice

An apprenticeship is a job, with hands-on experience, a salary and the chance to train while you work. There are hundreds of different apprenticeships available across a wide range of industries and organisations from qualification level 2 to 7 and taking between one and six years to complete.

Hiring an apprentice

Employing an apprentice is easier than you think and there’s financial support and help available from the government.

Our Growth Works With Skills hub also offers advice and support for employers in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough interested in offering apprenticeships.

Apprenticeship Ambassador Network

The Apprenticeship Ambassador Network (AAN) is a group of employers whose main aim is to spearhead the drive to engage new employers to commit to apprenticeship delivery in England.

Apprenticeship Levy Pooling

The Combined Authority is committed to apprenticeships and recognise the value they offer to both society and the economy. It is possible for levy payers to share their unspent levy contributions with smaller organisations who may have limited access to apprenticeship funding.

Whether you’re a non-levy paying organisation and wish to access funding for apprenticeship delivery, or a levy paying organisation who would like to share your unspent levy to ensure the money is spent on apprenticeships in the region, fill in the form below to get in touch.
