An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Business & Skills Directorate at the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority.

Job Summary

To provide support to the Project Manager – Skills Bootcamps and Special Projects in the organisational management and function of the development and delivery of projects in the wider skills team. This is to include continuous audit of project documentation for the duration of the Skills Bootcamps project whilst working alongside the Project Data and Finance Officer to ensure project expenditure is compliant with the Department for Education’s funding rules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Project Manager – Skills Bootcamps and Special Projects with the development and implementation of project processes, to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning and compliance of project operations
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to foster and embed a process of continuous improvement and quality assurance with all stakeholders and establish best practice
  • Reviewing project documentation, such as learner records, to ensure project compliance against funding rules prior to payments being approved to subcontractors and providing feedback to subcontractors where clarifications or further information is required
  • Liaise and maintain excellent working relationships with stakeholders including providers, councils, representative bodies of the skills sector, business, and other key partners.
  • Undertake research, fact-finding and analysis activities in support of the team’s work and support the development of relevant performance indicators and management information systems.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of procurement exercises, procuring consultants, projects, and programmes
  • Produce, maintain, and distribute project documentation such as risk, issue and requirements logs, action lists, project plans, programme prospectuses and application forms
  • Deal with enquiries from Training Providers and other external stakeholders on funding rules, policy changes and performance
  • Working with and coordinating the management of sub-contractors (Training Providers) and stakeholders to ensure funding and outputs are maximised.
  • Undertaking project performance monitoring, and providing monthly reports to the Project Manager – Skills Bootcamps and Special Projects
  • Coordinating project and contract meetings and organising suitable events and workshops to support the delivery of projects as required.
  • Working closely with the wider delivery team, ensuring clear and effective marketing of the workforce skills offer.

  • Knowledge of adult education and skills funding opportunities and requirements
  • The ability to work effectively with others as a competent team member and coordinator to achieve project targets
  • The ability to work under pressure effectively and meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent communication and networking skills with confidence in own ability
  • Knowledge of effective reporting at strategic levels
  • Qualified to A Level or equivalent standard of general education

Experience

  • Experience of problem-solving and implementing process improvements in a coordination environment.
  • Prior experience of working with key external stakeholders
  • Experience of government systems & processes
  • Experience in partnership and joint working
  • Experience of monitoring financial and commercial contracts
