About the Roles

Two exciting opportunities have arisen within the Business & Skills Directorate at the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA).

The CPCA is a young organisation, with a potential to make a huge difference to the communities in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire. The Authority is committed to delivering a portfolio of projects aimed at securing major developments and improvements for our residents across key areas including:

  • Climate change aiming for net zero carbon
  • Business and Skills – ensuring that adult learning matches future demand in the community, business, and the economy
  • Transport – improving Public transport, Highways and Rail
  • Housing – building affordable homes.

We are recruiting for two roles, Business Board Technical Executive and Strategic Funds Technical Executive where you will support the organisational management and function of the Combined Authority.

Business Board Technical Executive

To help facilitate the efficient, compliant functioning of the Business Board in its pursuit to deliver maximum economic benefit to the region, including specifically:

  • Support the co-ordination of Business Board Agenda, Minutes and Forward Plan, including meeting arrangements, and Board paper submission deadlines.
  • Support the administration around the Business Board and Skills Committee.
  • Support Annual Performance Review preparations for BEIS meeting, then post meeting Action Plan to be updated and to be tracked.
  • Provide essential administration to support governance procedures, including the adherence to and implementation of the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority Constitution and Assurance Framework.
  • Co-ordination of briefing calls with Business Board, supporting Directors and CA officers to meet Board paper submission deadlines.
  • Support the preparation of regular update meetings for Business Board members and wider Business & Skills Directorate.
  • Co-ordination of the Business Board sections of the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority website, including related Business Board social media activity.
  • To demonstrate a flexible approach to participating in multi-disciplinary, cross-department and cross-organisational programmes and teams.

Strategic Funds Technical Executive

To support the team by facilitating the efficient, compliant functioning of new and existing Strategic Funds the Combined Authority Business Board is responsible for, which includes Local Growth Fund, Getting Building Fund and Community Renewal Funding in its pursuit to deliver maximum economic benefit to the region, including specifically:

  • Support the co-ordination of the administration and project admin support to the Senor Responsible Officer for Strategic Funds and the Strategic Funds team.
  • To maintain a suite of reporting documents, contract documents, historical and current supporting documentation, monitoring information and financial information for claims to enable regular reporting
  • Work with the Administration and Technical support team to coordinate administrative support within Strategic Funds Team and connectivity, collaboration with wider Business and Skills Directorate
  • Support a number of performance reviews, from monthly to annual which will include collation of data, manipulation of data to provide graphical illustrations for meetings.
  • Arrange meetings with funded project lead organisations as required, acting as the first point of contact for any queries.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
  • Degree or equivalent standard of general education or experience in similar role
  • Proven track record in providing successful coordination support to projects
  • Research and data analysis skills with the ability to create and maintain accurate project records and assimilate information.
  • Excellent Attention to detail
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure with others as a competent team member and coordinator to achieve project targets.
  • Excellent written communication and networking skills with confidence in own ability
  • Good presentation skills (Power Point)
  • Knowledge of effective reporting at a strategic level
