Combined Authority Board approves funding for A605 in Peterborough
Plans for improvements to the A605 in Peterborough took a leap forward yesterday when the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority Board agreed to provide further funding of £795,000 to progress construction.
The development project originated from a need to improve traffic flow between the village of Alwalton and the Lynchwood Business Park, which has historically been congested at peak travel times. Following public consultation a scheme has been developed to add an additional lane eastbound to ease traffic, supporting Peterborough’s growth ambitions and improving quality of life.
The construction and implementation of this improvement project is expected to unlock 2000 new jobs, contributing to the city’s economic growth. The work, which will be delivered by Peterborough City Council through the Peterborough Highways Services contract, will start in February 2020, and is due to be completed in July 2020.
