Paul Bristow statement on East West Rail Cambridgeshire updates
Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Paul Bristow has responded to East West Rail’s publication of its You Said, We Did report which includes a range of new proposals for the Cambridgeshire part of the route.
Paul Bristow said: “A new Cambridge East station, a much-needed new eastern entrance at Cambridge Station, and better links towards Newmarket and more trains. We have worked hard to get these promised upgrades. But we need them now.
“Infrastructure is required to support the growth already happening in our region, and the accelerated progress we are pushing for in our new Local Growth Plan. If we want the fastest-growing economy outside London, we have to be equally ambitious with transport.
“We must keep working together to make sure this fantastic opportunity is delivered in the right way, with communities in mind. I will keep the dialogue up so this railway works for the people who live here and strengthens every part of Cambridgeshire.”
