Mayor Paul Bristow statement on the Budget
Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Paul Bristow has given the following statement on today’s Budget:
“This is a budget that’s left families, graduates and workers worse off. And it’s going to make Cambridgeshire and Peterborough worse off.
“I warned the government not to take the growth of our innovation-led economy for granted. Unfortunately, today’s Budget was another missed opportunity.
“The announcement on the swimming pool in Peterborough is great, but without the right transport, energy and water infrastructure, we won’t be able to triple the size of our economy. This wasn’t a budget that took the East of England seriously.
“Delivering growth means backing the big projects that can deliver growth, like Ely Junction and dualling our A-roads. Now we are all paying more tax, we ought to start getting some of it back as investment.”
