Statement from Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
“As Mayor and Deputy Mayor at the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority we want to address the recent racist and Islamophobic incidents that have taken part in other parts of the UK and shocked our communities. We know the very great concern that these have caused to our own communities here.
“We are proud to represent a diverse and multi-cultural region and we will remain united in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. We stand ready to do what we can, alongside local councils, leaders and other partners. We are working closely with Cambridgeshire Constabulary, who will continue to do all they can to make sure our communities are safe.
“We encourage everyone to be cautious about what they read on social media, as there is a huge amount of misinformation being spread.”
