An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Delivery & Strategy team at the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority.

The Authority was established in March 2017 as a result of powers being devolved to it by Central Government most particularly in regard to securing major developments and improvements in respect of Transport, Housing, Education and Skills across the region with a vision to make Cambridgeshire and Peterborough the leading place in the world to learn, live and work.

Job Summary
To support the Combined Authority’s decision-making, strategy development, performance management, and evaluation activity with excellent economic evidence, data and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • To maintain an evidence base of up to date economic data and analysis to support the Combined Authority in its work
  • To lead the Authority's evaluation of its programme and projects, including leading engagement with external evaluation exercises in consultation with the Director
  • To support colleagues with evidence and analysis to aid decision-making, enable performance monitoring, and underpin evaluation
  • To act as the Combined Authority's centre of expertise in economic analysis
  • To present data in accessible ways for the benefit of members, stakeholders and the public
  • To liaise with expert colleagues in stakeholder organisations and central government
  • To develop the Authority's wider capacity to carry out analysis and modelling in support of colleagues

Qualifications and Knowledge

  • Honours degree (minimum 2:1), and/or post-graduate diploma and/or master's degree in economics or a related numerate discipline, or equivalent qualification/expertise
  • Excellent analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative
  • A good understanding of relevant micro and macroeconomic principles, and their application 
  • Familiarity with public sector frameworks for project appraisal and evaluation
  • Good previous knowledge of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough economy
  • A post-graduate qualification in economies or a related numerate discipline
