An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Business & Skills Team at the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority.

The Authority was established in March 2017 as a result of powers being devolved to it by Central Government most particularly in regard to securing major developments and improvements in respect of Transport, Housing, Education and Skills across the region with a vision to make Cambridgeshire and Peterborough the leading place in the world to learn, live and work.

Job Summary

To support delivery of the ERDF grants plus any other Business grants out to beneficiary businesses.

To support the Local Growth Fund Technical Support Officer in the overall record keeping, filing, Administration and management of the ERDF Funded grants plus any other business grants.

To provide support to the finance team when processing grant claims for payment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Local Growth Fund Technical Support through the organisation and control of handling business grants administration complying with European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) requirements
  • Inputting and maintaining contact and project records, ensuring appropriate audit trails and evidence meets the ERDF requirements
  • Reviewing grant applications across two email inboxes
  • Pre-assessing the applications against specific eligibly criteria 
  • Issuing pre-assessment documentation to be completed
  • Querying with applicants any discrepancies within the applications
  • Responding to any queries that the applicants have in a timely manner
  • Navigating CRM system HubSpot to manage each stage of the application
  • Saving applications and evidence on SharePoint within various sub-folders
  • Sending applications and evidence attached for external assessment
  • Sending successful and unsuccessful notifications to the applicants
  • Issue Grant Offer Letters to the applicants if their grant  is successful 
  • Issuing claim forms and evidence to the finance team to process payments
  • Carrying out audit/bank checks by calling each applicant before a claim is submitted
  • Monitoring the claims paid out by the Combined Authority and collating the evidence ready for reimbursement

Qualifications and Knowledge

  • Proven track record in providing successful coordination support to projects preferably grant schemes supporting businesses
  • Ability to maintain accurate project records and assimilate information
  • Computer Literate
  • Knowledge of ERDF funding requirements including reporting and appraisal systems (not essential)
  • Qualified to A Level or equivalent standard of general education


  • The ability to work effectively with others as a competent team member and coordinator to achieve project targets
  • Administration and record keeping
  • The ability to work under pressure effectively and meet strict deadlines
  • Prior experience of working with grant schemes
