Celebrating National Inclusion Week 2024
At the Cambridge and Peterborough Combined Authority, we are excited to celebrate National Inclusion Week 2024, from 23 Sept until 29 Sept. It is an opportunity for us to reflect on and strengthen our commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. This year’s theme ‘Impact Matters’ highlights the importance of making a lasting difference throughout the Combined Authority and beyond. It’s a reminder that inclusion goes beyond intentions; it’s about the tangible impact we have on one another and our community. If we fail to include or consider the needs of others, it can create barriers for everyone.
Throughout the week, we have planned a variety of events designed to promote understanding, inspire reflection and celebrate the diversity within the Combined Authority.
We started off the week with an Advanced Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Training, which discussed supporting and celebrating diversity and inclusion, as well as challenging unconscious bias. Alongside this, our Diversity Library has been set up to encourage colleagues to share and borrow any inclusion-related reads. Helping to expand knowledge and understanding.
We are also hosting a number of interactive activities and events, including a Taste of Home event, where colleagues came together to share dishes that reminded them of home, building connections through food. Our Inclusion Quiz has offered a fun way to explore the topic of inclusion, while the Story Telling event provided a platform for sharing personal experiences of inclusion and its importance. We also have a Celebration Board and Reflection Box, where everyone at the Combined Authority is invited to share how they feel included at the Combined Authority and also any reflections on Inclusion.
At the Combined Authority, we know that National Inclusion week is not just about raising awareness. It’s about making that lasting impact. Inclusion is a journey, and this weeks activities are designed to help us reflect on this, to ensure everyone feels valued and supported. Together we can make an impact that truly matters.
