Medtech Accelerator injects £430k into pioneering, early stage technologies
Medtech Accelerator have recently awarded four new early stage pioneering projects amounting to £430,000.
The medical technology financial scheme is a joint venture led by Health Enterprise East (HEE) in partnership with Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEP), The Eastern Academic Health Science Network and Essex County Council.
With this latest round of funding the total number of awards granted has risen to 11 with over £1m committed to these projects since the scheme was launch in 2016. The aim of the scheme is to accelerate more innovative medical technologies from the early design stage and concept phase through to the product development and adoption phase
The projects benefiting from the most recent injection of funding are: a novel imaging device for cancer surgery; a breakthrough treatment for hernias and abdominal wall repairs; an innovative surgical retraction device; and a bone conduction technology to help children with glue ear to hear.
