Mayor’s Tier 4 Statement
“This evening I spoke with Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, Robert Jenrick MP, following the Prime Minister’s statement moving Peterborough into Tier 4 from midnight tonight.
I repeated my concern about the need for Government to support business, their staff and families affected by these new measures to avoid undue hardship. The timing of this change of Tier is especially poignant and of concern during this festive season.
My heart goes out to all affected and I urge the people of Peterborough to follow the Governments new Tier 4 safety guidance especially the changes to Christmas Day bubbles and arrangements.
The Combined Authority will be sending out updated support information to business over the coming days.
I will reiterate my message to the rest of the region – Tier 2 is still not where we want to be and those in Tier 2 must continue to be vigilant, cautious and follow public health guidance moving towards Christmas and after.”
