Team Cambridgeshire & Peterborough showcases £97 billion growth ambition and investment opportunities at UKREiiF
Team Cambridgeshire and Peterborough took a bold vision for growth to UKREiiF last month, showcasing major investment opportunities across one of the UK’s fastest-growing and most innovative economies.
Over three days, more than 1,000 investors, developers, business leaders and public sector partners visited the Team Cambridgeshire and Peterborough pavilion to explore opportunities spanning life sciences, advanced manufacturing, defence, regeneration, clean energy and transport infrastructure.
A key milestone during UKREiiF was the launch of the region’s new Investment Prospectus, which highlights a pipeline of investment-ready opportunities and supports the ambition set out in the Local Growth Plan build a £97.1 billion by 2050.
The prospectus showcases opportunities across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, including the expansion of the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, projected to support £18 billion GVA and 40,000 jobs by 2050, the transformational regeneration of Peterborough City Centre, globally significant life sciences and innovation clusters, and major industrial and logistics developments that will help drive long-term economic growth across the region.
Throughout UKREiiF, Team Cambridgeshire and Peterborough hosted a programme of events focused on the infrastructure, innovation and investment opportunities needed to unlock future growth. Discussions explored the future of science and technology, the role of transport and connectivity in supporting economic expansion, opportunities to bring forward strategic employment sites and how public and private sectors partners can work together to accelerate delivery.
The event also provided an opportunity to demonstrate progress on some of the region’s most significant growth projects.
A partnership agreement was signed between the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, Huntingdonshire District Council and the Ministry of Defence to accelerate Project FAIRFAX, a major regeneration programme that will transform the Wyton Campus into a nationally significant hub for defence innovation, generating high‑skilled jobs, research and investment. Team Cambridgeshire and Peterborough also continued to make the case for the Ely Junction upgrade. The £466 million scheme is essential to unlock 32,000 jobs and sustain Cambridge’s world‑leading life sciences sector. The message was clear: Ely Junction is the single most important intervention needed to support the UK’s fastest‑growing innovation economy. Read more here.
Mayor Paul Bristow said:
“UKREiiF was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the strength and potential of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. The interest we received from investors and partners shows just how much confidence there is in our region’s future. Most importantly, this momentum will translate into real benefits for our residents, more high-quality jobs, better transport connections, new skills opportunities and thriving communities.”
The strong level of engagement throughout the event reinforces growing confidence in the region’s long-term vision and highlights the strengths of partnerships helping to deliver it. Through the Local Growth Plan, Team Cambridgeshire is working with government, investors, developers and businesses to unlock opportunity, remove barriers to growth and create the conditions needed to support one of Europe’s leading innovation economies.
