The Opportunity and the context

About the Role 

We’re looking for a Network Development Planner (Real Time Information) to lead the delivery and expansion of real time passenger information across Cambridgeshire & Peterborough’s bus network. 

With over 20 million journeys taken each year, accurate and timely information is vital to passenger confidence. You’ll be responsible for managing the region’s Real Time Information (RTI) system — ensuring it is reliable, effective, and continually improved through innovation and partnership. 

What You’ll Do 

In this role, you will:
🔹 Design, deliver, and expand real time passenger information systems (on-street and digital)
🔹 Manage the RTI system contract and consortium of local authorities, ensuring value and performance 📊
🔹 Lead procurement and supplier management for new technology solutions
🔹 Act as a subject matter expert, guiding colleagues and stakeholders on best practice and innovation
🔹 Oversee budgets and ensure cost-effective delivery 💷
🔹 Work collaboratively with councils, operators, and developers to expand access to real time information 🤝
🔹 Engage with passengers and stakeholders to ensure improvements meet community needs 

What we're looking for

What You’ll Bring 

We’re looking for someone with:
Experience delivering technology-based systems in a public transport environment
Strong contract and budget management skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
A track record of improving passenger information systems
Great communication and influencing skills to work with suppliers, councils, and stakeholders 

Desirable:
Knowledge of DfT standards for transport information
Familiarity with the UK bus industry and its challenges
Awareness of political sensitivities in transport planning
